Note: this FAQ only applies to those who received an email regarding their 1.0 to 2.0 account migration. If you did not receive an email, your account will not be migrated.
Why is my inactive Mem 1.0 account being migrated?
Mem 2.0, our completely rebuilt product, is set to replace Mem 1.0 in 2025. Our current priority is ensuring a smooth migration for all users to this faster, more reliable, and smarter version.
When will my inactive Mem 1.0 account be migrated?
Your Mem 1.0 account will be automatically migrated on January 15, 2025.
When will Mem 2.0 replace Mem 1.0?
Mem 2.0 will replace Mem 1.0 in the first half of 2025.
Is migration mandatory?

What will happen to my content?
- Accessing your content
- If you only need a copy of notes you’ve created: Your notes and collections will be seamlessly imported into Mem 2.0, where you can continue to access them in Mem 2.0. Notes shared with you, groups, synced email, people, or calendar events, and chat history will NOT be imported.
- If you need a copy of notes you’ve created AND notes shared with you: (Not recommended) You may bulk export notes you’ve created and notes shared with you to Markdown or JSON in one single file. You can find the option to export your notes in your settings page.
- Content not migrated
- Notes shared with you, groups, synced email, people, or calendar events, and chat history will NOT be imported to Mem 2.0.
What's different in Mem 2.0?
- Mem 2.0 is an entirely rebuilt version of Mem that incorporates the feedback we’ve heard over the past year. This new version is faster, more reliable, and smarter than Mem 1.0.
- Sharing is restricted only to other people using Mem 2.0. There is no sharing between Mem 1.0 and 2.0 accounts. Groups are now shared collections and require all collaborators to be using Mem 2.0 Alpha.
- Several features — such as templates, image understanding, rich embeds, link sharing, exports, and the Mem 2.0 API — are still in development. Follow our blog for the latest updates.
What will happen to subscriptions?
While Mem 2.0 is currently free during our Alpha phase, when we introduce paid plans, your subscription will automatically transfer to Mem 2.0 without any interruption, allowing you to continue enjoying the benefits of your current plan.
